CIVILIAN RETURNS
No change in the election night placings of leading candidates was made as the result of the official counts of civilian votes for 11 more electorates. The position is also unaltered by the addition of the preliminary count of service votes to the civilian totals. The completed civilian totals included those for New Plymouth and Raglan, two electorates with small majorities. On the preliminary count of civilian and service votes for New Plymouth the National Party candidate, Mr. E. P. Aderman, had a lead of 38 votes over the Labour candidate, Mr. F. L. Frost. As a result of the official count of the civilian ballot papers, including the ’absent and postal votes, Mr. Aderman lias increased his lead and is now 112 votes ahead with the preliminary service votes added. There are, however, service votes to come which are not included in the preliminary count figures. In Raglan the Labour candidate, Mr, R. Coulter, has increased his election night lead over the National Party candidate, Mr. R. J. Glasson, from 51 to 90.
The official counts of civilian votes completed yesterday are given below. To these have been added the figures for the preliminary count of forces’ votes, which are given separately in brackets:—
