Vice-Regal. Government House, Wellington, October 8. His Excellency the Governor-General received Mr. Hector Christie, Dominion Chief Commissioner, Boy Scouts Association, this morning. This afternoon his Excellency, attended by Major C. J. Holland-Martin, was present at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Boy Scouts Association. This evening, his Excellency, attended by Captain 11. G. Helmore. opened the suth annual exhibition of the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts.

The Bev. Canon E. H. Strong, of Te Awamutu. has been appointed vicar of Fitzroy, New Plymouth, succeeding the Rev. G. W. G. Griffin, appointed vicar of Morrinsville.

Mr. S. G. Holland, Leader of the Opposition, left Wellington lasi night for Christchurch. .He will return to Wellington on October 19 for the fii.-st. caucus of the Opposition, which will be lollowed by a meeting of the National Party’s Dominion executive. Mr. V. Ward, honorary secretary of the Wellington Provincial Patriotic Committee, left yesterday afternoon on a visit to camps and patriotic estaolisnments in Palmerston North,, laihape. Waiouru and other points within the province. He will then spend a few days in Rotorua before returning to Wellington.
