WORK AT HAWERA

Dominion Special Service. HAWERA, October 7. Good weather conditions prevailed this morning at Han-era for tho final work of horses engaged to race at Otaki on .Saturday. The outside of the course proper, with the exception of two furlongs up the straight, was available, but trainers preferred the sand, which provided much better and faster going. On the sand, First Out having the bos! of the going. Pananiiut (Neill) set the main, galloping four furlongs in 52. time that was not bettered over the distance later. Pana mint promises to be in nice order for Waverley.

War Effort (Flower) and Student Prlnco (Neill), after covering the first three furlongs in 391, completed six in 1.21). both finishing solidly. Barrus (Holland), who is making good . progress, sprinted over three furlongs in 391. Vermette (Moore) completed half a mile in 521 after dashing over the first two furlongs in 26.

Battledress (HoHand) continues to please in his work and finished up the tost halfmile In 53 in something like his old style. Tho Unworn jockeys, L. .1. Clutterbuck aud N. Holland, will be riding ut Otaki Clutterbuck’s rides are Fiddler’s Green. Fort Royal, Alexcelia, Vermette and Golden Acre; and Holland’s mounts include Lotto, Kelte-he and Sir Fox.
