German Bombing Claim (Received October 7, 8.35 p.m.)
LONDON, October 7. The- German news agency states that German torpedo-planes off the Algerian coast made a low-level attack Ou an Allied convoy of 80 ships which were sailing in an easterly direction. “One ship after another was hit and left damaged or burning,” it stated. >“A fully-laden 10,000-ton transport, which was also carrying munitions, blew up and sank before lifeboats could be lowered. A second transport of similar tonnage received a direct hit.”
