SOLDIER SETTLEMENT
State Buys Properties In Auckland Area
The Government has completed-nego-tiations to purchase two properties in the Auckland district for settling discharged servicemen on the land. One property was owned by Paratn Limited, near Walton, comprising some 2000 acres. This has been purchased as a going concern, there being some 4500 sheep and 450 cattle on the property. The land will eventually be ■subdivided into dairy-farms witli possibly one fat lamb farm, and due to its easy contour and favourable location should be ideal for settlement purposes. The other property is one of about 565 acres’, south-east of Te Awamutu and adjoining the Wharepapa Block, formerly under the control of the Waikato Land Settlement Society, but now controlled by the Land Settlement Board. The land acquired was por tian of the Jepson Estate, and will be subdivided into dairy-farms, for .which purpose it is eminently suitable.
