HAWERA, October u. Weather conditioue have restricted the use of certain tracks at Hawera. but the saud track, which is always available is quite suitable for solid exercise work for the older horses. What trainers require at this stage is. a grass’ track for the two-year-olds, a number of which are due. to race this month at the Masterion, Wellington and Waverley fixtures. Owing to heavy track conditions, they are not very forward.

Nightray is work- . ing well and a trip to Trentham is contemplated for her. Golden Acre (Clutterburk) and Vermette (Moore) put up the best half-mile of the morning. Going fast over the first two furlongs, they completed in 54 2-5. Clarice (Clutterfiuck) sprinted three furlongs down the bat k comfortably in 41. Cetewayo (Potroz) and Fort Royal (Clurterbuck) did strong pacework over a circuit.
