Four Young Girls In Court Dominion Special Service. NAPIER, October 4.
Four young girls, all under 1G .years of age. appeared before Mr. J. Miller, S.M., in the Children’s Court. Napier, this morning for not being kept under proper control. Three cases were adjourned to see what could be done with the offenders, and the other girl was placed under the welfare officer’s supervision for IS months.
“These young girls, one of whom .is only 13 years old, have been, associating with visiting overseas servicemen, frequenting hotels and other places with them,” said Senior Sergeant I'. C. Felton, who stressed the necessity for stricter parental control. “These girls have been visiting the bedrooms of these servicemen,” the senior sergeant stated, and he added .that iu some cases the parents had evidently been hoodwinked, as the. affairs had been carried on in the daytime. Mr. Miller said that this was a deplorable state of affairs, and investigations would be made to see what could be done with the offenders. “These goingson must stop,” he declared.
