German Attack In Dodecanese
LONDON, October 3.
The Germans early today launched a seaborne aud airborne attack against the recently occupied islan’d of Kos, in the Dodecanese, says a Cairo communique. The necessary counter-measures have been taken. Reuter’s Cairo correspondent says reliable quarters indicate that the attack was on a small scale. Repeated attacks ■by (.lie Luftwaffe foreshadowed the attempt to -recapture the islan'd, wliic-h the-Allies occupied on September 22, soon after Italy capitulated. A substantial Italian force which was nllowrtl to keep its arms is reinforcing the small British garrison.
