Resolutions Of Conference

A conference regarding Rongotai airport was held in Wellington recently between the airport committee of the city council and representatives of the Air Department, the Wellington Harbour Board, the Wellington Chamber of Commerce, Union Airways of New Zealand Ltd. and Cook Strait. Airways Ltd. The conference adopted these resolutions, which were approved by the Wellington City Council yesterday : —

That the Rongotai airport cannot safely be used for 20-seater passenger aircraft without considerable improvement.

That a runway running from Lyall Bay to Evans Bay is essential for the ssife operation of 20-seater planes, which are the smallest machines required to carry post-war traffic. That a deputation wait on the Minister to secure the release of the commission’s report and negotiate for a subsidy to carry out the necessary work.
