L'vpi’esen tat ions for a change in the name of the Waitaki electorate to Wainiate are to be made by the Waimate Borough Council on the ground that the present name is misleading. The mayor, Mr. W. F. Boland, who made the' proposal. said that though the electorate included areas in the Wqitaki and Mackenzie counties. Waimatc was the centre, and Wai mate borough and county provided the largest portion of the electorate ami 57 per cent, of the electors. It was suggested that support for the representations should bv <dilaiiivd from other local bodies.
