NAVAL CURTAIN-RAISER

That the men of tbe Royal New Zealand Navy are physically fft was evident bv the dash and vigor displayed in the match at Athletic Park, Wellington, on Saturday afternoon between a team representing iI.N.Z.N. ships and a Wellington Navy side. The sailors revelled in the slush and mud and kept things going at a lively tempo throughout. Two of the hardest-work-ed men on the field were the full-backs, Halligan (Wellington) and Hampton (R.N.Z.N.), and both came through trying ordeals with flying colours. A hard-fought game ended fittingly in a pointless draw.
