ONE COMMAND URGED

South Pacific War Area

NEW YORK, October 1. Senator Ralph 0. Brewster, who was one of the U.S. Senators who recently visited the war fronts, urged in a broadcast that General MacArthur should be placed in full command of military operations in the South Pacific. n ‘•While we were in the Laeihc, ho said, “operalions proceeded simultaneously in New Guinea and New Georgia under separate commands. Losses were at a minimum in the Lae-Salamaua offensive, which was persoonally supervised by General MacArthur. . “General Kenney, in the meanwhile, was at Mtiuda. Three major military commanders were required in three weeks. “Such changes mean a greater sacrifice. One cannot help wishing that General MacArthur had the same authority in New Georgia that he exercised in New Guinea.”
