French Reducing Hold Of
Germans (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, September 30. A French communique issued in Algiers said that the area in Corsica occupied by the Germans has been reduced to the Bastia, Borgo, ami Folelli region, m the extreme north-eastern corner ol the island. The enemy are trying Io hold Ibe Teghime amt Sans Stefano pusses. French trbops on the cast coast, forced the Germans Io retreat between Aleria and Folelli, and also Io evacuate the mountains between Corle and the sea. I’iedicroce, an important centre of resistance. Ims been liberated. Despite demolitions and minefields, a shock battalion of patriots is pursuing the enemy from Aleria and Folelli. ami there is some activity west of Bastia and Sasamozza, stales a Corsica communique. Planes of the French air force successfully attacked a convoy off Bastia, and five French fighters intercepted an important enemy formation of bombers. Three of the enemy planes were destroyed and one was damaged.
