HOME SERVICE
Rules For Association Provisional rules for the activities of a Home Service Association were approved at a large meeting in the Wellington R.S.A. rooms of men who had seen home service in New Zealand. Serving personnel were also present. . ~ r The qualification for membership briefly is as follows: —Any serviceman of good repute who has served a minimum of six months’ full-time service within New Zealand as an attested member of the New Zealand Military Forces, Royal New Zealand Navy, Royal New Zealand Naval Reserve, Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve, or Royal New Zealand Air Force, permanent or temporary ; any serviceman, even though he may have served less than six months, who is discharged from the forces through wounds or accident caused during any period of full-time service, any serviceman who may have been discharged through sickness or other disabilities suffered in the first instance only and exclusively and by reason of and during any period of full-time service; or any serviceman who is discharged from the forces through sickness or other disability which did without any option to. the serviceman debar him and was the sole reason for debarring him from the continuance of fulltime service of any nature in the armed forces. „ , At the first meeting of home service men a provisional committee was appointed with Major D. F. Bauchop as chairman. Major Bauchop, who was not eligible for election as a member of tne committee which was later elected, was thanked sincerely for his efforts on behait of the association and was unanimously appointed the first honorary member or the new association. , The following were the officers elected provisionally till the end of the financial vear on March 31, 1944 President, Lieutenant R. P. Levien; vice-president, Mr A J. McDonald; bon. treasurer, Staff-Sergeant I. Bowden; executive committee, Lieutenant-Colonel A. L. George, Captain Thompson, Lieutenant H. A. Askew, Messrs. E. G. M ebb, G. R. Gardener P. O’Neill, and N. Crawford. Mr. E. G. Webb was appointed honorary S °Mit o, C. Batten and Mr. G. Hayden, representing the N.Z.R.S.A-,. 'assured those present that their association would assist in every way possible. -MajorGeneral W. H. Cunningham represented the Wellington R.S.A. The Wellington R.S.A. and N.Z.R.S.A. were thanked tor their assistance and co-operation.
