Many Thousands In Hospital

Since August 16. 5-100 starving persons have been taken to hospital in Calcutta, where 1230 have died, making the total deaths in tlie city from starvation 2082, says the Calcutta correspondent of “The Tinies.” The Government has provided more than 4000 relief kitchens in the province. The Ministry is bringing in grain from other provinces, sending it to Calcutta ami from districts with a surplus to those with a deficit. Rice seems generally to have disappeared from the market.
