MAXIMUM PRICES

Garments Using N.Z. Wool

Numerous garments made from knitted materials or textile piecegoods wholly or partially manufactured from New Zealand wool (such as underwear, pullovers, suits, overcoyats, frocks), and other items such as footwear, hosiery, gloves, blankets, mattresses and pillows, and knitting wools were declared in March last to be within tlie provisions of the Control ot Prices Emergency Regulations. Jo give traders an opportunity to make application for the fixing of maximum prices for such goods the Price Tribunal lias hitherto refrained from issuing the second notice contemplated by tlie regulations which prohibits the sale ot such goods unless maximum prices had been fixed for them. . The tribunal bus now issued the second notice, but it allows a further -1 days before enforcement to give traders a final opportunity to apply for the fixing of maximum prices. Abe tribunal explains that, tlie great majority ot the articles listed have already been the subject of price authorizations or price orders, but as many of them have been considered by traders to be outside tlie regulations, nnd as it is essential in view ot the stabilization policy that the maximum prices be delined, the notices have been issued to clarify tlie position.
