Returning officers for, last Saturdays general election and their assistants ar-i still busily engaged on work connected with the scrutiny of the rolls and the official count of the ballot papers, and it is unlikely that any official returns will be available before next week. Hie situation so far as the doubtful seats are concerned remains the same, and the present uncertainty regarding the issue in these electorates can be expected to continue till the outstanding votes can be counted in at the end of tlie official count.
