MAGISTRATES’ COURT
An unsuccessful attempt to draw .£lO from tlie Post Office Savings Bank by forging the name of George Faulkner, another soldier. whose paybook be had stolen, was admitted in the 'Magistrates' Court. Wellington, yesterdav by Boslc Te Kawa. labourer and soldier, aged 2b. rietcetivc-Sergeant W. 'McLennan said Te Kawa did not. make a good job of the signature and Its falsity was detected. Accused, who was charged with attempting to ohinlii the .monev 'bv falsely representing himself to 'be Faulkner, was sentenced by Mr. Stout, SAL, to -one months hard labour. Henry James Williams, aged 17, was admitted to probation for two years on two cbarees of receiving money totalling £3, knowing it. to have been stolen. DetectiveSergeant McLennan said two other youths had ibeen 'breaking into premises. Williams received the money from them and knew It had been stolen. He lived at Upper Hutt. Twelve months’ probation was alloweu Robert Rtl Henry, soldier, aged 21, who admitted stealing a wristlet watch, valued nt 30/-. It was- said be had never been before the Court before and Army officers spoke well of Jilin,
