Vice-Kir, " Government House. Wellington, June 9. His Excellency the Governor-General presided at a meeting of the Executive Council this morning. Mr. A. I'irie. a committeeman and steward of the Wellington Trotting Club, has been appointed to tile ooard of th# New Zealand Trotting Association in place of the late Mr. I*. B . Kelly. Mr. J. It. Kirk. M.8.E., J.l’„ Wellington, has been appointed honorary treasurer of the Royal Society of New Zealand in succes.--ion to Mr. M. A. Eliott, I’alinerston North, who ha« resigned. Mr. Kirk, a barrister, is an ex-mayor of both Nuseby and Gisborne. He was a member of the Royal Commission on Education of 1912 and of the Council of Education, and ufter active service on the Western European Front in tile Great War was appointed first director of education ;o Hie N.Z.E.F. At present ne is a director of several companies, including .he Australian Provincial Assurance Association. Ltd.
