TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILDS
Newly-Formed District Aren Keen interest was shown at a meeting held in the Y.M.U.A., Wellington, when the Wellington Area 1< ederatwn ' ot Townswomen’s Guilds was formed, tins was attended by delegates Yrom' swen guilds in the Wellington district and tiy members of the executive committee. Mrs Albert, Dominion president, extended a welcome to those present and wished the area federation every success. Mrs. Walker, Miramar, was elected chairman, with Mrs. Keren and Mrs. Downie, Rongotai, secretary and treasurer respectively.
Nursery Expansion in England. More than 1500 children’s nurseries. 200 of them in London, are now available for children under five, and 618 of them are affiliated to the English National Society of Children’s Nurseries. . home 20 000 children are looked after m the nurseries and 2000 young nurses are being trained in them. All but ol of the nurseries affiliated to the-society are serving as training centres for young girls taking up nursery nursing as a career. Children’s nurseries have come to stay, and there will be a big demand for trained nursery nurses after the war, according to a London prediction,
