DETENTION BARRACKS TROUBLE
Men Involved Senteneed Sergeant Andrew Taipiha, aged 31, New Zealand Temporary Staff, by sentence of district court martial promulgated on Saturday, lias been reduced to the ranks for striking a soldier undergo ing detention. Two charges ot the. same nature were pi-eiei-red against laipiim. lie was found not guilly on the first relating to an incident when blows were exchanged between a soldier prisoner ami him in the former's cell and guilty on the second charge which arose from a visit he paid to the prisoner's cell half an hour after the first incident. The soldier concerned. Private i iclor Sydney Collins, aged 19. was ehargecl subsequently before the same eourt-n'mr-tial with striking Taipiha, a member of the detention barracks staff at n Wellington district mobilization camp, on the same two occasions. lie was found guilty in respect of the- first and sentenced to 30 day.-' detention.
