The "Sunday Times.” commenting on Goering’s speech, says that in effect lie pleads that Russia, by pretending to be weak, drew Germany into a war in the east which the Nazis would never have undertaken unless they had been as’sured of an easy victory. . Goebbels’s speech is described as being full of admissions which must have chilled his German audicnec.
