Bremen Raided By R.A.F. In Daylight
(British Ollicia) Wireless.) (Received January 31, 7 p.m.i RUGBY, January 30. An Air Ministry communique says: "Aircraft of the Bomber Command carried out several offensive operations on Germany in daylight today. Two attacks on Berlin were made by Mosquitoes, while Wellingtons bombed Bremen and other targets in north-west Germany. One Mosquito and four Wellingtons are missing from these operations." Earlier communiques told of a Bomber Command attack on I,orient, last night, from which four bombers were missing, and of attacks on railway targets iu France yesterday by bombers and fighters in which three enemy fighters were destroyed. The United States Army Air Force headquarters in Britain revealed that 22 German fighters were destroyed by the Flying Fortresses and Liberators on their first bombing raid on Germany, when they attacked Wilhelmshaven on Wednesday. Only three American bombers were lost. New Zealanders and Australians in flarnpdens of the Coastal Command yesterday in a concerted attack stink n large enemy ship off the Norwegian coast. Though the vessel was escorted, the Ilainpdens went in to attack from 50 to 80 feet. The Australians went in first and scored several bits, and the New Zealanders followed and scored another six hits. Before leaving, the aircraft circled round and watched the ship <ink by the stern.
