Senor Dumas Sets Sail
For Chile
In continuation of his voyage round the southern hemisphere alone in his ketch, Legh 11, Senor Vito Dumas sailed from Wellington on Saturday for Valparaiso, Chile. The yacht was towed to the harbour entrance by Air. A. Holiness launch Vagabond and east off about 1 p.m. in a fresh north-west wind. From Valparaiso Senor Dnmas intends to sail round Cape Ilorn to his homeland, Argentina, in preference to going via Panama, on which route he*wouid encounter difficult currents and winds on the eastern coast of South America.
Senor Dumas was farewelled informally ashore, and a crowd of friends and well-wishers cheered and waved goodbye as the launch and the yacht parted. Among those who saw Senor Dumas off were the Commodore of the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club, Air. G. C. Beckett, Lieutenant G. Law, R.N., Lieutenant Slater, Alajor Moffat and Lieutenant Laughton Bramley, R.A.F., and the-je were present those who had entertained Senor Dumas during his stay iu Wellington.
