KELIOIOUS NOTICES. We g of w “FOR HE (GOD) HATH MADE HIM (JESUS) TO BE SIN FOR US, WHO KNEW NO SIN; THAT WE -MIGHT BE MADE THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF G'OD UN HIM" (2 Cor. 5:21). In the Bible the word "SIN” is used in two senses. Firstly, It signifies "the trans, gression of law” (I John 3:4) and, seeoudlv, "it represents that physical principle of the animal nature, which is the cause of nil its diseases, death, and resolution into dust. It is that iu the llesh ‘which him the power of death’; and it is called SIN, because the development, or fixation, of this evil in the flesh, was the result of transgression (Roms. 5:12). Inasmuch as this evil principle pervades every part of the flesh, the animal nature is styled ‘sinful flesh,’ that is, 'flesh full of sin’ (Roms. 8:3); so that SIN, in the sacred style, came to stand for the substance called MAN. In human flesh ’dwells no good thing’ (Roms. 7:18) , and all the evil a man does is the result of this principle dwelling in him ('Roms. 7:17).” When therefore the Scriptures teach that Christ was “.MADE SIN” (2 Cor. 5:21) reference is made to the physical body Jesus inherited from His mother, Mary, for if is a fundamental teaching of the Holy Scriptures that “Jesus Christ came in the flesh” (2 John 7, 1 John 4:3) even that "flesh in which dwellelh no good thing” (Roms. 7:18) — “sinful flesh” or “flesh full of sin” (Roms. 8:3). But though Jesus Christ inherited from Mary n "body of sin” He personally "knew no sin’’ (transgression), He was "without sin” in word, thought, aud deed (Hobs. 4:15, 1 Pet. 2:22, 1 Peter 1:19). Being, therefore, a sinless bearer of sinful human nature Jesus Christ was an acceptable sacrifice for sin, for when Christ was crucified upon the cross three things were accomplished: (1) the righteousness of God was exhibited in the condemnation of “sin in the flesh” (Roms. 8:3, Roms. 3:23); (2) the devil (Christ's body) was destroyed (Hebs. 2:14) ; and (3) the process of inking away “the sin of the world" (i.e. sin in human nature) was begun (John 1:29,' Hebs. 9:26). Reader, the Gospel which must be believed for salvation is defined in the Bible as "The things concerning the Kingdom of God and those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ” (Acts 8:12, Ads 28:3031, Mark 16:1-6, Roms, 1:16). In the foregoing are some of "the things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ.” For further enlightenment you should read the book—"CHRISTENDOM ASTRAY."
