Destruction Of Deer

Sir, —I notice that preparations are in hand by the authorities for the destruction of deer in our native bush. It seems amazing that this splendid article of food is not brought forward as such and supplied both to civilians and armed forces, especially now. when food is such a problem, and served as prime venison. The deer is there for the shooting or rounding up. Venison, properly cooked, is a delicacy. When we read of horses, rats, mice, etc., being eaten in Europe, we should look with amazement' at the wastage of such a prime article of food as venison in our own country.—l am etc.. S. F. DARRAGH. Wellington, January 25.
