WELLINGTON CRICKET

No Division Of Senior Teams

The management committee of the Wellington Cricket Association yesterday decided that there would be no division of the senior teams for the second round or championship matches, which starts on Saturday next. Mr. W. A. Baker, on behalf of the senior championship committee, moved a recommendation that the senior teams should be split up into two sections of six each for the second round. The motiou was seconded by i,Mr. B. Pegler. Mr. J. E. Banks moved, as an amendment, that there should be no division of the senior teams, and that the existing teams carry on with the competition tor the next five Saturdays, after which the four teams with the most points should play-off for the championship. The chairman, Mr. J. D. Howitt, said a division of the teams into two sections would make for increased Interest. Mr. P. D. Wilson, in seconding the amendment, held the opposite view. Past experience, he eaid, had shown, that when the senior teams had been divided the teams in the lower section at once lost interest. There was very little difference, he coniended, in the playing strength of the 12 teams in the competition. On being .put to the vote, the amendment was carried. Saturday’s Fixtures.
