MR. SULLIVAN’S REJOINDER
Describing Mr. Holland’s statement as “most unjustified,” the Minister ot Supply, Mr. .Sullivan, last night made the following reply : — , “Recently in Christchurch 1 made the following statement: ‘Every member ol Parliament knows that the Prime Minister has been absolutely frank vita Parliament, has told them everything ana has read to them the cablegrams that passed between the Prime Minister ot Britain and Mr. Fraser. Every member of Parliament: knows that Parliament itself and not the Government has made tile decision us to tlie course that is being followed and that, tliat. decision was made unanimously by Parliajnent " Huout a single dissentient voice. . "Mr. b. G. Holland flatly.. . indeed blatantly, denies that ’Hie decision as to the course being followed was made liv Parliament.’ , . . “Mr. Holland’s denial is the most, incredible experience in my public tile. 1 can onlv say, to be generous, that either Mr. Holland’s memory has completely failed him and blacked out in his minu tlie recollection of the immediate past or tliat lie is confused as to the issue being discussed. If I tell him Hint the nm Cabinet has accepted and is carrying out Hie will of Parliament as expressed b.v Pa ilia men I, will lie understand Huu. True there was no division, as lie contends, but there were many speeches and a declaration by the Prime. Minister as to what lie understood tlie will ot Parlni; ment to lie, and tliat declaration passed unchallenged. Perhaps that. will clear Mr. Holland's mind and he will now -withdraw his most unjustified statement.
