Military Training Of Students
(By Telegraph.—Press Assoelation.l DUNEDIN, January 21. The University Senate among its concluding business adopted a suggestion that it should ask the authorities to consider the advisability ot establishing m each university college a military unit consisting of miile students between the ages ot 18 and 21, and that the Army authorities be asked to post university students to the university unit, in which they might continue their studies, combined with military training. ■ It was explained that this was the system in some centres, but it was desired to extend the scheme. ; Questions relating, to lodging appeals against military service on behaif of students with special excellence were discussed in committee, and on the motion of Dr. Newlands it was resolved that the matter be referred to a full executive committee of the Senate, with power to act, and that it be recommended that only most exceptional cases be considered. The next session'of the Senate will be held in Christchurch.
