Northland Flower Show
Last Saturday afteriiuon (lie Northland Horticultural Society staged a very successful show in St. AnnesHall. Ju spite of transport and other didiculties, there were good entries in all classes, but unfavourable weather affected the entries in
the gladioli classes. There was a large attendance ot the public and the deep interest shown by exhibitors ami visitors must have repaid the strenuous efforts of the hard-working committee whose personnel has been reduced through the war and other causes. Mr. T. E. Wilkinson’s champion hydrangea "Mrs. -Miniver” and -Mrs. latterson’s champion carnal ion proved popular wins and were much admired. The show was opened by -Mrs. Inter Fraser, who was introduced by -Mr, G. 8. Nieoll, president of the society. M'' s - Fraser complimented the society ou the beautiful and colourful display aud stressed Urn importance of keeping the shows alive as they contributed much iu beauty and usefulness. . , .
