PORTLAND (Oregon), Jan. 18. The tanker Schenectady, which sank at the outfitting dock, had completed her trial run faultlessly before sinking. 'The only plausible theory of the accident came from unofficial sources, which said that a recent flood might have piled a sand ridge under the dock. The ship’s keel may have broken on the ridge as the tide receded.
