RUSSIAN GAIN
Stalingrad Buildings CAUCASUS FIRM (British Official Wireless and Press Assn.) (Received November 9, 7 p.m.) RUGBY, November 8. The Russian morning communique states that; in the Stalingrad area the Russians dislodged tlie enemy from several buildings. North-west of the city a Soviet unit, penetrated the enemy’s rear and destroyed a German battalion headquarters. North-east of Tuapse the Russians stormed and captured a height. Successful defensive operations continue south-east of Nalchik. The Russians seem to have blunted the enemy's spearhead in the central Caucasus. About 100 more of the enemy s tanks have been smashed in the last three days. , , ~ In other parts of Stalingrad the Russians are reported to have gone over to the offensive. Small Enemy Attacks. LONDON, November b. Today’s Soviet communique reports that the Russians at Stalingrad beat ott attacks by small enemy forces. It reports no change on the other froutd.
