CHRISTCHURCH, November 4. A. E. Ellih rode Kindergarten in easy work at Riccarton this morning. The North Island crack will be kept at light tasks .till next week, after which ho will be sent along a bit faster. He Is In good health. Jolly Time broke down When she was being exercised on the lead recently. The trouble Is In a fetlock and the mishap occurred on the road. It is hoped she will be saved for the stud. The Canterbury Jockey Club will , subscribe £2OOO to the second Liberty Loan, This decision was made by the committee at today’s meeting. Reports received from Central Otago state that the first crop of foals by Royal Chief are well grow-t> and gooQ-lookltig youngsters. Royal Chief Is a bay, but many of his' foals are eliestnijts with n good deal of white about them, so they appear to have .thrown back to their grandsire, Chief Ruler.
