AWARD OF D.F.M.
Outstanding Air Gunner Described as an “outstanding air gunner” in the citation accompanying his decoration, Flight Sergeant Colin Ixjo Malcolm Forsyth, R.N.Z.A.F., has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Medal, states oflicial advice received by Air Headquarters, Wellington. In ".July of this year Flight Sergeant Forsyth was slightly injured in it flying accident, and was admitted to hospital suffering from burns. “Flight Sergeant Forsyth in his participation in numerous sorties, has proved himself an outstanding air gunner,” states the citation. “His skill in the use of wireless equipment has always proved of the greatest assistance to his pilot. Throughout his service he has displayed outstanding courage and determination in the performance of his duties.”
Born in Oropi, Tauranga, in February, 1914, Flight Sergeant Forsyth was educated at the Te Kuiti District High School. Entering the R.N.Z.A.F; at the beginning of 1940, he embarked for overseas service in April of that year. His mother is Mrs. E. Forsyth, Oropi, Tauranga.
