Transport Difficulties
A conference of members of the Uaki Chinese and European Market Gardeners' Association and the Horowheiiua Retailers’ Federation was held yesterday Io consider lhe situation which Ims arisen over Hie shortage of packing eases and sacks mid to try to find a solution of tlie transport problem. Captain B. V. Cooksiey, M.M., presided. 'Several speakers complained that the wartime transport regulations were inequitable ns they affected market gardeners. After a long discussion in which instances of produce being left behind bv Hie transport service were quoted, Messrs. E. Bartosh mid 11. Gow who appointed to represent Hie association lit a ' conference between interested parlies in Wellington on Friday in an.endeavour to remedy the transport position. They will report back to a further meeting of the Otaki gardeners on November 10.
