The season promises to be interesting for bowlers in Wellington, of whom there arc just as many as ever, in spite of the abandonment of the pennant matches, the iuterclub matches which are played every second Saturday in a normal season. The pennant matches will be replaced to some extent by friendly matches which some, clubs are arranging among themselves and by the three patriotic tournaments which will be held on six Saturdays during the season. The first patriotic tournament will be on November 28 and December 12. At Christmas there will be the usual fours tournament, at New Year a -pairs tournament and a fours itouruament, and at Easter the usual fours tournament.. Toward the end of the season there will be the four-centre championships and the veterans’ day, and throughout the season clubs will be challenging for the four challenge trophies. Sunday ’play on a number of city greens where it. has been prohibited in the past also will add to the interest of the 1942-43 season.
