COLLEGE SPORTS
Good Performances At Silverstream
Some outstanding performances were put up at the -St. Patrick’s College, Silverstream, annual sports, conducted on the college grounds on Wednesday, Thursday, and yesterday. The sports were well controlled by the college staff, the large fields being sent off with scarcely a break between the events. Unfortunately, a gusty south-westerly wind yesterday prevented at least two recotds being broken. A. M. Robinson, off the scratch mark, won the 100 yards intermediate handicap in 10 4-5, but as there was a helpful breeze behind him at the time, tlie record could not be recognized. G. Warmington, in winning the 100 yards junior championship in 11.0, clipped 1-5 sec. off toe previous record. In the junior long jump championship, J. Taripo. a Sqpto Sea Islander, covered 19ft., which was lliu. better than the previous best, but here again the record could not. be recognized because of the breeze behind the competitor.
