ROSE DAY APPEAL
Hose Day was first instituted by the Wellington U.S.A. 21 years ago, in commemoration of the Armistice Day of the Great War, 1914-18, and it lias been carried on eacli year for the purpose of acquiring financial assistance from the citizens of Wellington, to enable the association to carry out its many obligations for the beneficial assistance and service given to all returned servicemen, their families and dependants. In a’ statement issued yesterday the association says that, the publie have niagnifipently responded to past appeals, but in connexion with the November 0, 1942, appeal, the association seeks greater support from the people, for num are returning from all branches of the overseas forces and these servicemen will receive from the association a share in their rehabilitation. The executive and others connected with the association realize that progress is necessary more than ever today, as the responsibility will naturally be for the men of the 2nd N.Z.E.F. to carry on the good work performed by the veterans of the last war, in maintaining the association at the high place it holds in public life. The R.S.A. depends to a large extent on women's committees to make this appeal successful by their co-operntioon during the collections. Some of these women have been connected with the Rose Day appeal since its inception.
