RETAIL MOTOR TRADE
Association 25 Years Old A scheme for the of the'twenty-fifth birthday of the New Zealand Retail Motor Trade Association was mentioned at the association’s twenty-fifth annual meeting in Wellington last night. The general secretary, Mr. C. R. Edmond, suggested that the fssociation’s new council, which will meet today for the first time, start organizing a fund of £25,000 “to put a foundation under the association which would not be disturbed by time and circumstances.” If it had such a fund it could have its own headquarters building and a training scheme, he said. After the war, with an increase in the popularity of aeroplanes, the industry would he even more important than it had been. By organizing such a fund members would be stabilizing the whole industry and leaving something worthwhile for posterity. At least a plan could be prepared immediately. . . , The president, Mr. 11. M. Aider, said that it was not creditable that after 2,> years’ existence the association had only five or six hundred pounds. A real effort should be made to improve the financial position. , Commenting on the work ot the past Tear, Mr. Alder said it had been a time of great achievement and had included the organization of the automotive and battery section.
