MAORI WAR EFFORT
Questions Of Manpower And Womanpower Tlie part being played by the Maoris in the war effort was referred to by the Minister of Industrial Manpower, Mr. MeLagan. He said this was being left largely to the Maori War Effort Organ-, izatioii and its various local tribal committees, working in close co-operation with the district manpower officers. “The Maori people," said Mr. MeLagan, “are playing an important part in wartime industry, and have set up, under Mr. Paikea, us Minister in charge of the Maori war effort, their own organization for securing a maximum effort. There will be the closest '’o-operatiou between the district manpower officers and the tribal committees of this organization, the officers giving their fullest assistance wherever it may be required and at the same time consulting with the tribal committees on all questions relating to Maori manpower and womanpower in industry.”
