Wellington Technical College

A considerable decrease in the activities of the Wellington Technical College, there being a drop of 104 S in the number of students enrolled at October 17 compared with the number enrolled on the same date'last year, was reported to the college board of governors last night. The roll this month is 3115, compared with 41G3 12 months ago. The number attending is 2040. Most of the decrease is in evening classes. On the whole the art department has maintained its activities, but it is the only department which has done s'o,

“Tlie figures for all other departments indicate that a serious prohlein will arise after military activities eease,” remarked the director, Mr. R. G. Ridling. “Aoung people who should be receiving commercial mid industrial training have been withdrawn immediately they reach the age of IS years mid it is mainly on this account that tlie college is not being used as fully and .'is effectively as in past years. The average attendanee is also low, being only 00 per eent. of the possible. Consequently, with reduced roll number ami a low attendanee, effective work is difficult.”
