LIBERTY LOAN
Wellington Investments £504,270 IN FORTNIGHT
An amount of £504,270 has been invested by Wellington subscribers to the Second Liberty Loan during the paqt two weeks. The first week’s, investments, which included advance subscriptions, totalled £303,330 and those for last week £200,940. These amounts came from 667 applications. Additional subscriptions notified are: New ■ Zealand Holdings Ltd., £10,000; Teagle Smith and Sons Ltd., £5000; Brownlee Ltd., £3800; Bing Harris Ltd., £2000; Whitelaw Bros. Ltd., £500; S. AV. Paterson and Co., Ltd., £100; M. Salter and Co., Ltd., £lOO.
In the flotation of the first Liberty Loan, considerable success attended the scheme ■whereby employers made advances to employees for investment purposes, being recouped by regular deductions from salaries and wages. Tlie Wellington Liberty Loan Committee therefore hopes that this will again be done. In this connexion Mr. C. N. Cathie, president of the Wellington Manufacturers’ Association, has circularize:! the members of his association, and is confident of a good response. He commends the idea to all employers and has set an example by initiating the plan in his own company, Cathie and Sons Ltd. Employers who decide to adopt the idea are invited to inform the Wellington Liberty Loan organizer, Box 3015. G.P.0., Wellington.
