DRIVE FOR RUBBER

Successful Community Effort The success of the recent drive in Wellington for rubber was referred to"yesterdav by the Minister of Supply, Mr. Sullivan. He said it had clearly demonstrated what could 'be achieved by community effort. Under the capable direction of Mr. R. D. Grant, of the Wellington Committee for the Reclamation of Waste Materials, the Boy Scouts, Boys’ Brigade and numbers of school children, ably supervised by E.P.S. personnel, made an excellent job of collecting the 200-odd tons of rubber so generously contributed by the citizens of Wellington. . ' "The assistance of the Army in getting the rubber to the depot was'a very great help,” said Mr. Sullivan, “and I would like to express my very sincere thanks to all concerned on the success of their effort. The enthusiasm of the organizations participating in the drive w?s very pleasing, and I know that they will find their chief satisfaction in the fact that, by their splendid work, they have contributed very materially in the supply or raw material for the. maintenance of very essential production. With raw rubber in short supply, the reclamation of used rubber for refabrication is filling a great need. To all who contributed 'to the pile, and to all who worked so hard getting it to th6~depot, I express my deep appreciation, and the thanks of the Government.”
