(Received October 23, 11.15 p.m.) WASHINGTON, October 22. The Navy Department announced that enemy aircraft sank a madiumsized United States merchantman in the North Atlantic early in July. The crew landed at an east coast port. * A submarine torpedoed a mediumsized American merchantman in the North Atlantic in the huddle of September. Three members of the crew died and 37 were rescued by an escort vessel which was forced to sink the ship by gunfire as it wallowed in the waves, its decks awash
