WEDDING

Jillett —Falkner

A pretty wedding took place recently in St. Cuthbert’s Church. Eketahuna, when Olive, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Falkner, Pinelands, Kaiparoro, Eketahuna, was married to Douglas Carter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jillett, Trentham. The Rev. Mr. Button, Pahiatua, officiated. Miss Renais Gage, Hastings, sang “Ava Maria” as the register was being signed. The bride looked picturesque as she entered the church with her father, wearing a long-trained frock of rich cream satin, her veil being held with orange blossoms. A beautiful bouquet of frecsias. camellias and maidenhair fern was carried. The bride was attended by her sister, Mrs. Hugh Bodie, Hastings, as matron of■ honour, and her cousin, Miss Doris Wright, Napier, as bridesmaid. Both wore mauve net frocks with floral caps and carried pretty bouquets to tone. Mr. Russell Falkner, brother of the bride, was best man and Mr. Robert Dick, cousin, was groomseman. A reception was held in the supperroom of the Town Hall, where a large number of guests were entertained, and the usual toasts were honoured. The beautiful three-tiered wedding cake was made by the bride’s cousin, Mrs. R. Kiddie, and decorated by another cousin, Miss Avis Dick. , The bride’s mother wore a black model frock and coat and the bridegroom’s mother was', in a black tailored costume and black hat. Both carried posies. At night, Mr. and Dlrs. Falkner entertained their friends at a dance in the Kaiparoro hall. 'Music was supplied by an orchestra and Mr. H. Bodie was master of ceremonies. . , . The bride travelled in a wine frock and matching hat worn with a smart check coat. Mr. and Mrs. Jillett’s new home is at Trentham.
