RELIGIOUS NOTICES. “THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH BUT THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE THROUGH JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD” (Roms. 6:23). Sin is defined in (lie Scriptures as “(lie transgression of law" (1 John 3:4) and as “the wages of sin is death" it follows that those who transgress God’s law either knowingly or ignorantly are ‘loomed to eternal death (Psa. 40:20, I’rov. 21:16, Matt. 7:13, Luke 13:3, Gals. 6:8, Roms. 8:13). On tlie other band those who do not transgress God’s law but who faithfully conform to Ills will, believing Ills promises and obeying His commands, can live “in hope of eternal life’’-(Roms. 2:7, John 10:28, Roms. 8:24-25, Titus 1:2, 1 John 2:25). Thus eternal life is a “gift” which God is offering on His own conditions which are clearly recorded in the -Scriptures (1 Cor. 1:21, Roms. 1:16, Mark 10:15-16, 1 Peter 3:21, Gals. 3:27-20, Roms. 6:3-4, John 15:14). This “gift” will be' given to accepted believers at -the second coining of Jesus Christ (2 Tim. 4:8, 1 Peter 1:6-0, 1 Peter 5:4, Matt. 25:46, Mark 10:30, Luke 18:30). For this purpose believers who are now dead, “sleep, ing in the dust of the earth,” will be awakened from their sleep of death (Dan. J2:2, 1 Thess. 4:16, Rev. 20:6). As no one can live eternally with a mortal body it follows , that those who, at Christ’s coming, receive God’s gift of eternal life must experience a “change” of body from “this mortal” -to immortality (1 Cor. 15:51-54, Phil. 3:20-21). They will then be like Jesus was after His resurrection (1 John 3:2) and “equal unto the Angels” (Luke 20:3336). The eternal life thus received .will then be enjoyed “on the earth” tor the Scriptures reveal that “the redeemed” will reigu as “Kings and Priests” in the universal KINGDOM OF GOD which Christ will establish On earth at Ills coming (Matt. 25:34, Dan. 7:27, Rev. 5:9-10, Rev. 2:26-27, t Cor. 6:2). From the foregoing it will be seen that the reward of the righteous is not heaven going at death nor is the punishment for'sin “hell-fire torments.” Reader, according to the -Scriptures your eternal destiny will be either eternal lite or eternal death.
