WINTER MILK
Variation In Prices
The varied prices charged for winter milk in the four metropolitan areas and the variation in the winter seasons were the subject of a question to the Minister of Supply, Mr. Sullivan, of which notice was given by Mrs. Grigg (Opposition, Mid-Canterbury). She asked the Minister to explain why the winter price of milk to the consumers was 7}d. a quart in Auckland, 7d. iu Wellington, (id. in Christchurch and <d. in Dunedin, and also why winter payments to producers varied so much and got progressively lower from noitn to Sh°e U also asked) why the winter periods had been fixed at six months in Auckland, four months in Christchurch and * Wellington and three months in Dunedin, and if the Government proposed to rectify the unequal payments in different districts. In a note to her question, Mrs. Grigg said meteorological records showed that the reverse should be the case. .
