Secret Discussion On War And Manpower FAIR RENTS AMENDMENT BILL PASSED AFTER LONG'DEBATE
Ministerial replies to members’ questions were circulated and discussed in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon. Local Bills remaining on the Order Paper—the Makerua Drainage Board Empowering Bill, Petone and Lower Hutt Gas-lighting Empowering and Amendment Bill and the Wanganui City Council Vesting and Empowering Amendment Bill—were put through all stages and passed without amendment.
• Consideration of the Fair Rents Amendment Bill was continued in the committee stage. The Bill was passed with amendments. A secret session will be held today to enable members to hear and discuss the latest developments in the war situation and the. manpower obligations of the country will be discussed during the sitting. The House rose at 11.10 p.m. till 2.30 p.m. today. The session is expected to conclude late tonight.
