Innoculatious against whooping cough will now be offered in Taranaki by the Health Department, according to an announcement by the medical officer of health for the district, Dr. J. 11. Blakeloek. This is the first time that inoculations for this complaint have been undertaken in the province through the department, although certain private practitioners have given such preventive treatment. Children from live months upward who have not hitherto had the ailment may be treated. The process differs somewhat from that of the diphtheria inoculations in that more injections are required, and it sufficient vaccine is administered to produce a really satisfactory immunity from the complaint, the reactions are more severe than those resulting from the diphtheria inoculations.
