Importance In Army Stressed

(Received October 20, 7 p.m.) WASHINGTON, October 19. If America is to survive and if it is to continue to be the 'home of democracy and liberty, the induction, into the Army of men between 18 and 19 cannot longer be delayed, says the Military Committee of the Senate, in a report urging speedy approval of the Bill for that purpose. The committee said it was- particularly impressed with the strong testimony of military leaders that the Army, if it is to be victorious, must utilize the special military qualifications of the 18-19 age group, which is particularly fitted for military training and combat, for leadership. The quick recovery of these men from fatigue, their aggressiveness, their enthusiasm and their flair. for soldiering far exceed such qualities in other age .groups. The Senate agreed to debate the measure on Thursday. Senator Vandenberg proposed a constitutional amendment in the Senate, entitling men to a vote at_ 18 years. “If young men of 18 are to be drafted to fight for their country, they.should be able to vote.for .the‘kind a of Government the country is to have, he said. __________
